How to Verify a Miami Impact Window Quote Yourself

Miami-Dade publishes every Notice of Acceptance it issues. That makes a quote here checkable in about twenty minutes, without a contractor in the room.

Give us the address and tell us whether it is a condo or a historic district. Those two answers change the job more than the window does.

The four checks

Do this with any quote, including ours.

  • Is there an acceptance number against each opening, or only a brand name?
  • Does the acceptance exist, and has it expired?
  • Does it cover the actual size going into your opening, not just the product line?
  • Does the anchoring schedule match the substrate that is actually there?

What a missing number usually means

It is rarely dishonesty. Most often it is a subcontracted quote where nobody has yet selected the specific unit, which is its own problem — the price you are being given was not built from the product that will be fitted.

The permit package needs the acceptance eventually. A contractor who cannot produce it at quote will be producing it at permit, which is after you have committed.

Next step

Find out what is actually wrong with it.

An inspection, photographs of what we found, and a written scope. If the honest answer is that it can wait another season, that is the answer you will get.
